Fornasetti presents the new edition of the Piatto Calendario

6 December 2019

Fornasetti’s Piatto Calendario is a tradition dating back to 1967, when Piero Fornasetti designed the first limited-edition New Year plate to be given as a Christmas gift to friends and devoted customers.

Fornasetti dedicates its annual Piatto Calendario to Ludwig van Beethoven and his Third Symphony, the Eroica, which, more than any of his works, symbolises freedom.

The symphony was initially composed for Napoleon, a symbolic figure of the values expressed in the composition. Those values were betrayed in the subsequent conduct of the French general, so much to force Beethoven to delete the dedication from the manuscript.

Hand painted on gold and platinum ceramics, the plate comes in a limited edition of 850 pieces.
